ENGEL of Germany

These brightly striped short-sleeve shirts are made of 70% merino virgin wool and 30% mulberry silk.  The natural fibers have temperature-regulating properties, so they give comfort either worn alone or as a baselayer.

Wool's moisture-absorbing and self-cleansing properties allow for extended use between washing.

Pure silk acts like a second skin and can have a calming effect.  Soothing for kids with extra sensitive skin.

PruneBlue/Kiwi vs OceanBlue/Kiwi - PruneBlue has a purplish cast to it, whereas OceanBlue is a dark blue color.  We wish all of the options were one, consistent color option, but this is what we discovered when we received them!

We purchased these items from a US-based store that closed its doors.  It's a brand we're excited to trial!  We'd love your feedback! Thanks!

Sizing

European children’s sizes correspond to your baby/child’s full length/height in centimeters. 1 inch = approximately 2.5 cm.

Choose the size that most closely matches your child’s height or longer, for example, if your child is 110 cm, buy size 116.  If your child is heftier, go one size up.

Last digit of size roughly correlates to child's age.

  • 92 = 2 yr = 37 in.
  • 104 = 4 yrs = 41.5 in.
  • 116 = 6 yrs = 46.5 in.
  • 128 = 8 yrs = 51 in.
  • 140 = 10 yrs = 56 in.
  • 152 = 12 yrs = 61 in.
  • 164 = 14 yrs = 65.5 in.
  • 176 = 16 yr = 69.5 in.

To maintain the health and longevity of your garments, organic wool is best washed by hand.  Many modern woolen items are treated with chemicals to allow them to tolerate machine-washing.  Certified organic wool does not contain such chemicals.  Some washing machines have a special wool-cycle, which maintains a lukewarm water temperature throughout the wash and rinse cycle, as well as minimizing agitation of the garment, which can lead to felting/shrinking.   See Caring for Wool

We recommend hand-washing with Kookaburra Wool WashBottle of Kookaburra Wool Wash

or LANACare Lanolin Soap with even more lanolin, 7.5%. The higher lanolin content is recommended for nursing pads & diaper covers, or to add even more softness to your woolens and to prolong the self-cleansing properties of the wool.
