NO … neither LANACare Organic Wool Nursing Pads nor organic wool clothing (LANACare, Hocosa) need to be washed prior to use.  They can be used directly out of the packaging.  Since no harsh chemicals have been used on the wool, there is no need to wash prior to using.  On the contrary, washing the items prior to use can wash away some of the wool’s natural lanolin … which gives the wool self-cleansing properties.  As wool absorbs moisture, lanolin is activated to cleanse away bacteria and odors.
