LANACare products were developed by a Danish nurse, with the goal of promoting health and well-being among nursing mothers, infants, children & adults . Her original product, soft woolen nursing pads, became such a success that she soon expanded to offer infant apparel and items for adults. Having a professional background in textile & design, as well, she knew of the unique properties and health-benefits of wool. Drawing upon her professional knowledge, she has developed LANACare products to bring you the soothing comfort which soft, natural wool has to offer.

As a complement to LANACare wool products as your child grows, we offer high quality HOCOSA Demeter wool products from Switzerland ... Hocosa long-underwear is offered in two variations: pure merino wool or a wool/silk blend. The wool chosen for Hocosa woolens is KbT Certified Demeter wool, to provide the utmost in well-being. This fine wool comes from pure-bred merino sheep. The wool is sheered by hand and is free of pesticides. It is chemically untreated and soothingly soft.

Careful sorting and selection has been made in choosing the wool used for LANACare products. Only wool that meets Europe’s highest ecological standards is used. It has been tested to prove that it contains no harmful substances, receiving KbT Organic Certification and the Oeko-Tex Certification of Austria’s “Institute of the International Association for Research and Testing in the Field of Textile Ecology“. No pesticides have been used on the fields where the sheep graze nor on the wool itself. And no harsh chemicals have been used to wash the wool - a guarantee that you and your baby can rest peacefully with LANACare products.

Only the most incredibly soft & finest of this organic merino wool is selected to use in LANACare products - you won’t find a softer natural wool. Most people can’t believe it’s wool!

Untreated wool holds many amazing and forgotten properties - it can absorb up to 40% of it’s own weight in moisture before feeling wet. And even when wet, it still feels warm. Wool provides warmth, yet it breathes to maintain a comfortable temperature. So even in warm environments, wool maintains a comfortable temperature next to your skin. And wool’s natural fibers breathe, unlike synthetics.

As wool absorbs moisture, its natural lanolin is converted to lanolin-soap, which has an antibacterial effect and removes odors. So even if wool is wet with sweat, urine or breast-milk, the lanolin goes to work cleansing the wool and removing odors- it need only be washed when the lanolin needs replenishing.

LANACare wool has been tested to show that it does not contain dust mites - a growing concern as a cause of allergies. For those considering themselves allergic to wool, most actually react to the chemicals used to extract the natural lanolin from the wool, not the wool itself. No such chemicals are used on LANACare wool, in reality making it hypo-allergenic!
